Honesdale is the county seat of Wayne County, PA. Like many towns in our region, it's population is small but the history is large. Honesdale, PA is universally considered to be the birthplace of American railroading. In 1829, the first commercial steam locomotive ran from Honesdale to the town of Seelyville, PA 3 miles away.
The famous children's magazine Highlights for Children was founded in Honesdale in 1946. Several notable TV shows and films (The Office and Blue Valentine, for example) have used Honesdale as the backdrop for filming due to its small town feel and very apparent charm.
